TO KNOW CHRIST AND
MAKE HIM KNOWN
CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH
ARKANSAS CITY, KS
Dear Friends in Christ,
As we observed last week, the COVID-19 pandemic necessitates some precautionary changes to how we worship in the weeks to come. It bears repeating, these changes are out of love and care for each other – not fear.
There are different recommendations on group size limitations ranging from 50 down to 10. After checking with Bob Frazee, our local Emergency Management Director, and after conferring with our Elders and our Spiritual Life Chairman, a majority voted to continue gathering for worship but to make some changes in order to minimize health risks. We will continue to reassess the situation on a weekly basis. These are the changes we will initiate this Sunday:
Elders Meetings are suspended
Sunday School Classes are suspended
No Fellowship Coffee in Turner Hall
2 Worship Services – This will leave ample room to s-p-r-e-a-d o-u-t as an added health precaution.
10:00 AM (No Children’s Church or Children’s Parable)
We encourage you to wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer as you enter and exit the Sanctuary.
We will disinfect door handles and other touch-surfaces between services.
Offertory & Communion
No Elders or Deacons
Offerings may be placed in offertory plate as you come forward for self-serve communion
2 cups / 1 with bread, 1 with juice
Dispose of cups in trash receptacle
Thank you to our Diaconate for making this precautionary change.
Live Stream on Facebook
We will live stream our 10:00 service on the church’s Facebook site: Central Christian Church-Ark City.
You’ll be able to watch our service as it happens, from home or wherever you are!
KSOK Radio 1280AM
We continue to broadcast our weekly service at 9:00 AM but our radio broadcast runs one week behind.
There is no shame in not attending Sunday service. To give an example… I will be at church, but Bev will not. So please consider:
If you have an underlying health condition
If you are within the more vulnerable age category
If you are sick in any way
If you may have been exposed to the virus
If you are at all uncomfortable about coming to church (or if your kids ask you to stay home)
Please -- Stay home. We encourage you to make the best choice for your own personal care and health.
Remember our hope is in Jesus, not in our present situation or circumstances. God is good. He did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Please continue to take reasonable precautions and please pray for our church, our community, our leaders, our nation, and our world. Let us respond with compassion, love, and care as this situation continues to unfold.
In His Love,
All are welcome to the Lord's Table. Our congregation celebrates communion every Sunday. This is also why we use a chalice as our logo. Communion began on the annual celebration of Passover when Jesus told his disciples to remember his sacrifice as they ate the bread and drank the wine.
